His Path
John Martin was born on the sunny island of Barbados in the Caribbean.
When you ask him what has inspired him to be an artist, the answer is quite simple: "Being an artist is not something that you create or come to be, it’s something that you are. It’s an unexplainable ability that comes naturally; something that is comfortable and soothing to the soul."
Recognizing his artistic ability at an early age, John Martin was only interested in art and creative classes. In the early 1980’s developing an interest in fashion design, JMartin began designing for friends and family while in high school. His designs were well beyond his young and vibrant age, and well received by many.
During his teens, JMartin moved to New York City.
Inspired by the energy of the city, he sharpened his skills and picked up the Airbrush technique. It is this technique that has added that extra level of individuality that the name JMartin is now synonymous with.
While in The Bronx, New York, JMartin designed and created one of a kind custom clothing for clients throughout the five burrows, quickly built up his clientele within the hip New York City lifestyle. With widespread news of his talent and abilities, the continuous demand for his creativity took a rapid growth. From this, the branding of a passionate designer was introduced to the world.
JMartin Designs was launched in Los Angeles, March of 1994.
With the success of his expansive ability, JMartin had a desire to move to Los Angeles to creatively develop his Brand identity. While in Los Angeles, JMartin designed for and secured the confidence of many elite names in the Sports and Entertainment Industry, and of many devoted individuals who express a desirable appreciation for his work Worldwide.
